Our surgical facility is no exception. The Georgia Bone and Joint Surgery Center is located on-site on the first level of the Georgia Bone and Joint Newnan campus for your convenience. Our outpatient surgery center serves patients whose surgeries do not require inpatient hospitalization and is designed to provide patients with first class care, with highly trained staff and the latest technological advances in equipment. Since we established the Georgia Bone and Joint Surgery Center in 2001, our surgeons have successfully performed operative procedures  for over 50,000 patients. Our experienced registered nurses and technicians strive to create a positive experience for our orthopedic patients and their families, who can be confident that a network of healthcare professionals is available before, during and after surgery to meet every patient need. The center’s professional staff will see to every patient’s comfort, medical and insurance forms, and post-operative information. Each specialized surgical suite in our state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center is equipped with the latest technology that enables our surgeons to serve our patients with the best in care. Our staff is totally focused on each orthopedic procedure, and we are steadfast in providing every patient with individualized, personal care.

Our Experience

Because we are physician-owned, we make care decisions based on what is best for our patients’ health. Combining depth of experience with our specialized orthopedic facility, our surgeons have led the way in orthopedic advancements such as out-patient total joint replacement for both Coweta and Fayette counties. Our surgeons have successfully performed over 10,000 total joint replacements. We were among the first in our area to perform total hip joint replacements, both anterior and posterior; total and partial knee replacements; total shoulder replacement; and total ankle replacement surgeries in an out-patient setting. Georgia Bone and Joint Surgery Center is the only Coweta County ambulatory surgical center that provides same-day total joint replacement.

Better Pain Control, Less Risk

Our expert anesthesia staff specializes in using state-of-the-art peripheral nerve blocks and regional blocks for post-operative pain management. Regional pain blocks lower the amount of general anesthesia required for surgery and also decrease pain after surgery, which helps to decrease opioid use and opioid side effects. Most patients are drowsy, especially after total joints. Georgia Bone and Joint anesthesia professionals partner with Emory Nurse Anesthesia Program, Augusta University Nursing Anesthesia, and Medical University of South Carolina Anesthesia Program to enhance clinical learning for students.

Infection Control

Georgia Bone & Joint Surgery Center has specialized nurses who monitor all aspects of infection control and follow strict protocols for infection prevention. As a result, our infection and hospital readmission rates are much lower than the national average.

After Surgery

Our experienced orthopedic nurses maintain contact with our post-operative patients to ensure continued optimal care. We also have resources onsite to assist with rehabilitation after surgery.

  • We specialize in all types of orthopaedic surgery. Our center performs approximately 3500 cases annually.

Your rights as a patient are:

  • Be informed of your rights as a patient in advance of, or when discontinuing the provision of care.
  • Exercise these rights without regard to race, sex, cultural, educational, or religious background or the source of payment for care.
  • Receive considerate and respectful care, provided in a safe environment.
  • Remain free from seclusion or restraints of any form that are not medically necessary.
  • Coordinate your care with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Receive information from the physician about illness, course of treatment, and the prospects for recovery in terms that you can understand.
  • Receive information about any proposed treatment or procedure as needed to give informed consent or to refuse treatment.
  • Have a family member or representative of your choice be involved in your care
  • Full consideration of patient privacy with regards to consultation, examination, treatment, or surgery.
  • Confidential treatment of all communication and records pertaining to patient care.
  • Access to information in your medical records within a reasonable time frame, when requested.
  • Leave the facility even against medical advice.
  • Be informed by a physician or designee of the continuing healthcare requirements after discharge.
  • Examine and receive an explanation of the bill regardless of payment source.
  • Be advised of the facility’s grievance process.
  • Have all patient’s rights apply to the person who has legal responsibility to make decisions regarding medical care on behalf of the patient.
  • All facility personnel performing patient care activities observe the aforementioned rights.
  • Provide accurate and complete information concerning present complaints, past illnesses, current medications and dietary supplements, hospitalizations or any other health-related issues.
  • Make it known whether the planned surgical procedure/treatment risks, benefits, and alternative treatment have been explained and understood.
  • Follow the treatment plan established by the physician, including physician instructions given by the nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Keep appointments or notify the facility and/or physician in advance, if unable to do so.
  • Accept full responsibility for refusal of treatment and/or not to follow instructions.
  • Assure that the financial obligations of your care are fulfilled as promptly as possible.
  • Be respectful of others in the facility: providers, staff, and other patients.
  • Provide responsible adult to transport you home from the facility following the surgical procedure.
