All
of Georgia Bone & Joint's physicians have a lifetime of experience
in sports and extensive experience in sports medicine. Dr. Powell
(link to bio) is an active member of the Olympic Medical Society
and served as a physician in Colorado Springs for U.S. Olympic athletes
training for the Sydney 2000 games. Dr. Ballantyne (link to bio)
played football for four years at Washington and Lee University
and was voted to the Academic All-American team his senior year.
Dr. Gruber (link to bio) played soccer at Presbyterian College and
was also Academic All-American his senior year. Dr. Kessler (link to bio) played basketball for the University of Georgia, was a GTE
Academic All-American, is in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and
played professional basketball for one season. Dr. Cushing (link
to bio) earned a varsity letter on the swim team at the University
of Indiana and was twice named an Academic All Big Ten Scholar Athlete.
For
several years, our physicians have served as team physicians for
local high school teams, walking the sidelines in the cold and rain,
win or lose, and conducting Bumps and Bruises clinics on Saturday
mornings.
Our
physicians also bring the knowledge of musculoskeletal performance
and recovery to their philosophy and care of employees. Renowned
as experts in Workers' Compensation, our physicians conduct a seminar
for employers entitled "The Industrial
