Dr. Michael Gruber is a Fellow of the <%-- --%>American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons<%-- --%> and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, recently recertifying in the top ten percent of orthopaedists nationwide. He is also a member of numerous professional societies, including the Arthroscopy Association of America, an organization comprised of orthopaedic surgeons who have demonstrated advanced skill and interest in arthroscopic techniques. He serves on the medical staff of Newnan Hospital and Piedmont Fayette Hospital, recently serving as the Chief of Surgery at Newnan Hospital. Dr. Gruber's professional interests include arthroscopy; sports medicine; and knee, shoulder, hip, foot, ankle, and joint replacement surgery using minimal incision techniques.
Dr. Gruber received his medical degree, graduating with honors, from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Wake Forest University Medical Center, which is known for its arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine program. Throughout his residency and through extensive continuing education, Dr. Gruber has received advanced training in such areas as hip arthroscopy and is currently one of a few surgeons performing this procedure in Georgia. During his residency, Dr. Gruber served as a sports medicine physician for the Wake Forest University athletes, and he enjoys providing the same high level of care to our local athletes.
Dr. Gruber is a native Georgian and was raised in Stone Mountain. He attended Presbyterian College where he graduated magna cum laude and was honored as an Academic All-American in soccer. Dr. Gruber has lived in Newnan since 1994 with his wife, Sharon, and their three children. His hobbies include soccer, travel, fishing and water sports with his family.
